Our Live Log program enables the customer to view what we are currently holding in flitch stock and what we can produce from our vast inventory. We have domestic, exotic and reconstituted logs available with the site being updated frequently as new logs become available.
Our Live Log program will allow you to see photos of the actual logs in inventory, which you can share with your customers and/or salespeople in order to aid in the decision making process when purchasing plywood or veneers. Our hope is that by involving the end user in the selection of the wood, they will feel like they are right at the mill alongside us selecting the flitch stock for their orders.
The process is simple:
A) Define what your customer needs in terms of:
Species
Cut
Grade
Color or grain specifics.
B) Go to www.birchlandplywood.com...choose "Live Log Program" from our menu.
Depending on your customer's needs, choose either Domestic, Exotic or our line of reconstituted woods from Alpi (made in Italy).
C) Select the species of interest from our drop down menu.
You will then be shown pictures of logs we have in stock for that particular specie. You can then review pictures of the logs with your customer.
D) Once you find a log you are interested in:
Record the log details such as species, grade, cut, thickness, size and board type (PBC, MDF, VC, combi VC/MDF, performance core/OSB, multi-core, etc).
Make note of any special colour & grain demands or minimum sequence sizes, as well as special matching requirements (end matched, centerbalanced, etc).
Send this information to your local sales representative who will provide you with a quote on the specific requirements.
We feel that having this tool will enable us to refine our customers requirements and enhance the buying experience! There will be three to six photos of each log. One close up to show the grain and color, The other images will show the overall look of the log photographed from different angles.
